New Players to Franklin in 2013Tweet
Opening Day is less than a month away and the players are beginning to see live action in Spring Training while getting adjusted to their new managers and teammates. Seven new players will be wearing Franklin batting gloves in 2013 with a mix between established All-Stars and emerging young talent; let’s meet the new group:
DAVID ORTIZ: Entering his 17th MLB season and 11th with the Red Sox, Ortiz is coming off an Achillies injury he suffered late last season. The 37 year-old is an eight-time All-Star and before the injury last year “Big Papi” was hitting .318, his highest batting average since 2007 when he finished with a .332 average. This year Ortiz will be wearing Franklin's CFX® Pro style batting glove providing a smooth and seamless feel in all weather conditions.
MARK TRUMBO: Fellow Franklin wearer, Josh Hamilton joins Trumbo in Anaheim and the two are poised to be a major part of a powerful Anaheim lineup. In Trumbo’s first two seasons in the majors he belted 61 home runs with 182 RBIs and enters 2013 season sporting the NEO CLASSIC® II batting glove.
HUNTER PENCE: Pence was traded to the San Francisco Giants in the middle of 2012 and was an integral part of the Giants World Series run last season, sweeping the Tigers 4-0. A two-time All-Star, Pence returns to San Francisco this season wearing Franklin’s THE NATURAL® II batting glove, aiming to relive the magic by the bay.
NICK SWISHER: The always lively Swisher joins a retooled Cleveland Indians clubhouse for the 2013 season. In his last four years with the New York Yankees Swisher hammered 105 home runs. He has always had a quick and powerful bat recording 21 or more home runs in each of the last eight seasons. Swisher’s preferred batting glove is Franklin’s NEO CLASSIC® II.
MIKE MOUSTAKAS: The 23 year-old Moustakas, aka “Moose”, played through the second half of last season battling injury. He was still able to record 55 extra-base hits and 20 home runs. The third baseman is part of a young Kansas City lineup full of potential. The Moose plans on supporting the NEO CLASSIC® II batting glove at the plate this year.
SALVADOR PEREZ: Another key part of the young Royals lineup is catcher Salvador Perez. Just 22 years-old, Perez hit .301/.328/.471 in just 76 games last season. Following in line with Ortiz, Perez will be wearing Franklin's CFX® Pro at the plate during his second season in the big leagues.
ZACK COZART: The starting shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds, Cozart had an impressive rookie season batting .246 with 15 homeruns. His defense is what turned heads however, making spectacular plays look routine on a daily basis. At the plate Cozart feels most comfortable with Franklin’s NEO CLASSIC® II batting glove.
